Unité de dessalement solaire OSMOSUN Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi project for Mascara in the United Arab Emirates was designed to allow the launch and follow-up of the world's first solar water desalination plant. As a young innovative company, Mascara has been selected by the Abu Dhabi Renewable Energy Organization to install a pilot technology project that its founders have developed.

The success of this first pilot of the OSMOSUN® technology has made it possible to demonstrate the viability of our research and development in a real situation. The technical aspect was then extended to commercial representation, essential to the visibility of the first solar desalination unit of the company.

The mission is therefore to launch, guarantee operation and commercial prospecting of the first solar desalination technology of the young industrial company Mascara.

Technologies used

Mascara Renewable Water offers a system that for the first time in the world offers the possibility of desalination of sea water by reverse osmosis only with solar photovoltaic energy without battery storage and without diesel generator.
A completely new reverse osmosis desalination process:
Faced with sudden, almost sudden changes in solar power (up to 90% drop in power in a few seconds in cloudy weather), Mascara Renewable Water engineers have developed an intelligent system of membranes to ensure Stabilization of production parameters. At all times, at all times, all parameters are instantly optimized to ensure the best energy performance and guarantee the maximum life of the installation and the membranes. Drinking water production varies with available solar power.

Major innovation

New patented principle of simultaneous and intelligent management of all parameters according to solar power. Rate of conversion, flow, pressure as a function of temperature and salinity of water.

OSMOSUN®, the development of innovative solar energy interaction:
The direct current produced by the photovoltaic solar generator simultaneously supplies 4 to 5 DC / AC converters with variable frequencies, different for each converter.
